As severe load shedding persists while Eskom grapples with plant breakdowns and waits for fuel to feed its emergency generators, the utility's largest fuel supplier PetroSA is facing challenges in urgently procuring diesel from the global market as demand surges amid geopolitical ructions.
The state-owned national oil company told News24 it faced challenges in procuring diesel attributable to domestic and international dynamics. "On the domestic front, South African refineries are currently down due to maintenance and other technical-related matters while internationally, the SA oil industry is seriously impacted by the shortage of supplies as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict," PetroSA said.Get 14 days free to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism.
