Rutgers’ defensive line deepened when quick, explosive three-star defensive tackle Aaris Bethea picked Rutgers while on his official visit this weekend.

picked Rutgers while on his official visit to the Piscataway-based school, he announced on Twitter on Saturday.

“Aaris is very committed to his craft,” said Erasmus coach Danny Landberg, who believes it will take his rising senior two years to develop physically to play in the Big Ten. “He always works outside of our team’s training. He wants to learn all the techniques your need to be great. He’s very intelligent so he’s extremely easy to coach and also very competitive.”

Flanked by his family on April 11, Bethea took an unofficial visit to Rutgers foreshadowing his pledge to his state-bordering school over Nebraska, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech — the rest of his top four, while the West Virginia Mountaineers courted Bethea just as hard in the end. Rutgers’ pipeline to Erasmus Hall, which has sent numerous players to Rutgers from the Brooklyn-based public high school, could bear more fruit for Schiano’s 2024 recruiting class, which is trending towards being one of Schiano’s best.
