NSTopinion: For the past 45 years, China-Malaysia relations have been growing in strength, featuring equality, mutual respect and win-win cooperation.

The Chinese nation has stood up, grown rich, and become strong. Next year the Chinese people will build China into a well-off society, meaning the total elimination of poverty, and that 1.4 billion people will be having better lives. It would be nothing less than a miracle in the history of mankind.

Chinese diplomacy also has many accomplishments to its name. The number of countries with which China established diplomatic ties has increased from mere 18 in 1949, to 179 today. The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping has rallied support from more than 160 countries, regions and international organisations, making it now the biggest global public good and the most dynamic platform for international cooperation.

This year also marks the 45th anniversary of the China-Malaysia relations. Malaysia is the first Asean country to establish diplomatic ties with China, and is also among the first countries to support and participate in the Belt and Road Initiative. For the past 45 years, China-Malaysia relations have been growing in strength, featuring equality, mutual respect and win-win cooperation.
