He rushed for 417 yards and three touchdowns in the last two seasons with the Cardinals.
Texans running back Eno Benjamin is available to appear in his first game with his newest franchise after spending his first full week of practice in Houston. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton called Benjamin an “explosive playmaker,” a potential catalyst for a foundering offense that ranks last in the NFL with 26 average yards per drive.
Rookie of the year candidate Dameon Pierce has generated success within Hamilton’s run-oriented scheme, but the fourth-round rookie from Florida is on track for 297 carries this season, and the Texans are searching for more productivity after the Commanders held them to a franchise-low 21 rushing yards in last week’s loss.
Benjamin rushed for 417 yards and three touchdowns in the last two seasons with the Cardinals, and he averaged 4.3 yards per carry when Arizona released the 2020 seventh-round pick on Nov. 14. Benjamin didn’t practice until that Thursday, and he was made inactive in Houston’s loss to the Commanders. “He is getting better,” Smith said on Wednesday. “What we’ve seen is that some of the things he displayed on why we claimed Eno. He has good quickness, speed, he’s played good ball in the league. He is just trying to blend in right now and we’re trying to get as much of a look as we can from him. All of our new guys, we try to get that, but it is hard.”
The Dolphins surrender the 17th-most rushing yards in the NFL , but Pierce said Miami has “a very solid interior” in defensive tackles Raekwon Davis and Christian Wilkins. The Dolphins also acquired Pro Bowl outside linebacker Bradley Chubb in a Nov. 3 package trade that included multiple draft picks and running back Chase Edmonds.
