Residents of Ogungbade, Kukumoda, Aba-Igbira, Amero, Papa, Ile-Tuntun, Adeji and Oke-Egberi and other neighbouring communities have reconstructed the Ogungbade Police Station that was burnt during the EndSARS protests in 2020. The communities are located along the new Ibadan-Ife Road in Egbeda local government areas in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The police station, which covers Aba Titi, Olode, Adegbayi, Redemptorist, Oluwo is one of the stations under Egbeda Divisional Headquarters. It was constructed by the communities through their personal efforts and support from the World Bank and commissioned in 2016. The police station was burnt by suspected hoodlums on Friday, October 23, 2020, during the EndSARS protests that spread across many cities in the country.
Our correspondent, who visited Ogungbade police station in 2022, reports that the police station was still in ruins two years after it was razed. The communities have, however, reconstructed the police station through their personal efforts. This is coming three years after it was razed.
