Translink’s often-derided public transport app is set to get a facelift and new features, thanks to an award-winning German company.
Brisbane public transport users will soon be able to plan their trips across not just trains, buses and CityCats but include walking and riding, with a contract awarded to replace the beleaguered MyTranslink app.The Queensland government has now awarded Siemens Mobility the contract to deliver a new mobile app and journey planner, with Translink working with the German company and its subsidiary, Hacon, on the new interface.
It will include journey planning across buses, trains, trams and ferries, integrated with cycling and walking options. “We want to make choosing public transport as easy as possible, and the new app will make that happen with better and more user-friendly travel information,” he said.The current Translink app, which had a star rating of 2.3 out of 5 in Apple’s App Store, had, with users complaining it was “useless”, provided incorrect information, was “confusing” and constantly crashed, while one person pointed out that it was not connected to the Go Card system for balance queries.
