Disney’s live-action trend makes it inevitable that a Frozen remake will happen soon, and they can learn from Blunt’s previous Ice Queen role.

Frozen has a high chance of receiving a Disney live-action remake, but Emily Blunt has already played the Snow Queen in a $115 million box office bomb. Frozen became a smash hit for Disney upon its release in 2013 as it flipped the Disney Princess trope on its head. Instead of the typical damsel in distress being saved by a prince, Frozen explored the relationship between sisters and showed the villain is not always who it seems.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A Disney live-action remake of Frozen has not yet been announced and probably will not be developed in the near future, mainly due to the upcoming animated sequel Frozen III. Further highlighting Frozen's massive popularity, it's rare for Disney Princess franchises to get a third movie, but Frozen III is expected to be the final chapter in Anna and Elsa’s highly lucrative story.

Emily Blunt Played The Ice Queen In The Huntsman: Winter's War A live-action remake of Frozen would not be the first time the Snow Queen has been brought to the big screen, as Emily Blunt already did so in 2016's The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Blunt’s character is not exactly Elsa, but Freya, aka The Ice Queen, is loosely based on the Snow Queen from Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale, the same character that inspired Frozen’s Elsa.

Disney's Live-Action Frozen Movie Can Redeem Huntsman's Snow Queen Adaptation Failures Blunt performed well in the role and was able to capture the tormented side of the powerful Ice Queen, but The Huntsman: Winter’s War as a whole was not received well by critics or audiences. The Snow Queen is an old and iconic character, one who deserves a much better live-action portrayal that Disney is able to offer.

An appealing aspect of Disney’s live-action remakes is that they are telling a story they already know the audience loves. Therefore, a live-action Frozen is guaranteed to be telling a great story with well-developed characters. As one of Disney’s best-performing movies, a live-action version of Frozen will be properly nurtured and Elsa is expected to get a much better treatment as a live-action Snow Queen.
