The federal government's Department of Home Affairs website is down following a cyber attack overnight.
The site allows people to access visa and citizenship applications, along with other various other online services including immigration information.
Shadow minister for home affairs and cyber security James Paterson has described the attack as"embarrassing" for the department given the sophistication level of the threat. In a statement on Friday, the Department of Home Affairs said the overnight attack"briefly prevented" people from accessing the both its website and online portals.
