, the 24-year-old Australian actress playing her, and did not share what Schilling thought ofWhile Priscilla’s admiration of the summer tentpole film isn’tin August 2021, the mother of Elvis’s only child expressed that she was getting “a little nervous” about the film when speaking to the King’s faithful subjects during an Elvis Week event. “Actually a lot nervous,” she said.
The issue at the time, according to her, was Luhrmann’s failure to send along a script. “I don’t know anything about what’s going on with that movie,” she said. In 2019, Luhrmann reportedly met for a three-hour lunch with Priscilla and Schilling, and, at the time, she gavecalling herself “pretty much involved,” and seemed bullish on Luhrmann as a stylist. “This is not going to be just a regular film,” she said, sounding excited that Hanks would be playing Col. Tom Parker, whom she called “the P.T. Barnum of rock-and-roll.”
Luhrmann “brought Austin over” to meet Priscilla in Memphis and was, at the time, planning to meet with him again in Los Angeles, she said.
