Elon Musk, a close ally of Donald Trump, urged the removal from office of U.S. lawmakers who vote for a temporary spending bill to avert a government shutdown. Musk's statement complicates Congress' efforts to find a solution, as the federal government faces a funding deadline on Saturday. While negotiators reached an agreement to extend funding to March 14th, Musk believes the spending bill is 'outrageous' and advocates for stricter spending cuts.
Donald Trump ally Elon Musk said on Wednesday that U.S. lawmakers who vote for a stopgap measure to fund the government past Saturday should be voted out of office, a move that could complicate the U.S. Congress' efforts to avert a partial government shutdown .
The federal government will run out of money to fund operations on Saturday unless Congress acts. Negotiators on Tuesday agreed on a deal to extend funding through March 14. Republican House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News that he had told Musk and Ramaswamy on Tuesday that his Republicans hold a narrow 219-211 majority in the House and will not control the Senate until next month. He said the bill was necessary to keep the government operating until Trump and his fellow Republicans have full control of Congress and can fully enact promised bigger spending changes.
Johnson already faces opposition from many of his fellow Republicans, who object to additional spending and unrelated measures that have been added to the package.

Elon Musk and SpaceX Face Federal Investigations Over Security Protocol ViolationsBillionaire Elon Musk and his space company SpaceX are facing three federal investigations regarding compliance with national security reporting regulations, according to The New York Times. The investigations were initiated by the US Air Force, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Deputy Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security. The report cites information from eight individuals with knowledge of SpaceX operations and internal company documents. The report alleges that Musk and SpaceX have repeatedly failed to adhere to federal reporting protocols intended to protect national secrets, including not disclosing details of his meetings with foreign leaders. This isn't the first time Musk's handling of SpaceX security has been questioned by the Pentagon. In 2018, Musk's public smoking of marijuana during a show with comedian Joe Rogan triggered a review of his security clearance. The latest report claims the US Air Force recently denied Musk's application for high-level security access due to potential security risks. Even US allies like Israel have expressed concerns that the SpaceX owner might be sharing sensitive data. Musk has yet to comment on the issue. SpaceX, renowned for its successful space missions, is now facing significant pressure to demonstrate its full compliance with security protocols to ensure that national secrets are not exposed to external threats.
