An Elmhurst car salesman demonstrating a BMW for two potential buyers apparently focused more on speed than handling Monday morning , as the vehicle left the road way, crossed a yard and hit the front-facing garage of a home on the 700 block of North Junior Terrace.
According to an Elmhurst news release, staff from the Elmhurst Police Department and the Elmhurst Fire Department responded to the home at 11:41 Monday morning after the driver of a white BMW X6 M lost control of the vehicle and hit the front of the house.Elmhurst paramedics examined the BMW’s three occupants and transported two adult passengers to Elmhurst Hospital with minor injuries. The BMW driver was not injured. No one in the house was injured.
According to police, the vehicle was being driven by Vladyslav Vityk, 18, an employee of WIN Auto Plaza, 704 W. Lake Street, Elmhurst, at the time of the collision. Vityk was driving the vehicle on a test drive for the two passengers.Vityk was arrested at the scene and charged with reckless driving, disobeying a traffic control device, improper lane use, and driving too fast for conditions.
The crash scene was investigated by evidence technicians and the damaged vehicle impounded. A review of WIN Auto Plaza’s compliance with Elmhurst Municipal Code is expected.
