Eli Roth's upcoming Borderlands movie taps Deadpool director Tim Miller for two weeks of reshoots. The change comes about due to a conflict with Roth’s own schedule, and it's reported that he has extensively briefed Miller about what the film requires.
Director Eli Roth is handing over the reins on his Borderlands movie to Deadpool director Tim Miller, who will be helming reshoots on the upcoming video game adaptation. Based on the best-selling videogame franchise, work on a Borderlands movie first began as far back as 2015 when Lionsgate first announced their intention to rework the property into a feature film.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Recently, rumors began to circulate that Deadpool’s Miller had been tapped to replace Roth on a series of reshoots amid unfounded speculation that the latter had been fired from his role. Contrary to these earlier reports, however, Deadline has confirmed that while Miller will indeed be assuming directorial duties on two weeks of reshoots, the change is simply due to a conflict with Roth’s own schedule.
Though it is no doubt disappointing for Roth that he will not get the chance to handle the planned reshoots himself, it is from no fault of his own that the studio is tapping Miller to replace him. Roth’s new Thanksgiving film is based on a trailer that the director made for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse film some 15 years prior, and the long-gestating project is finally intended to begin its own filming in March.
What We Know About The Borderlands Movie While videogame adaptations have been a notoriously difficult nut for Hollywood studios to crack, Lionsgate seem intent on going all out for this latest attempt. Boasting an all-star cast, Roth’s Borderlands movie includes several big named actors including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Jamie Lee Curtis. In the film, Blanchett plays Lilith, a famous outlaw who returns to her home planet to find a missing girl.
