While some community members had a lot to say about the ANC’s failures in the last 30 years, some who benefitted from its policies believe it deserves another shot at running the country.
JOHANNESBURG - Some Katlehong residents who have benefitted from the African National Congress ’s housing and education policies have thanked the organisation for attending to their cries.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme and Reconstruction and Development Programme housing beneficiaries were among residents who expressed gratitude for what they’ve termed the party’s unwavering commitment to changing lives. Dozens of Katlehong residents gathered at the DH Williams community hall earlier on Wednesday, where 702 hosted its second elections town hall meeting.
These residents denied claims that the party had derailed from its values, citing how their lives had changed since the dawn of democracy.“Because of the ANC and NSFAS, I was able to go and learn for free. It was never a loan, it’s for free.” But community members who beg to differ have slammed the ANC government for failing to address poverty and unemployment.
