Malaysia is full of small businesses run by the underprivileged, with many going unnoticed as people go about their day.
Feeling like he needed a boost, an elderly uncle running a cobbler business on a sidewalk in Ampang ultimately decided that he didn’t want to go unnoticed anymore and asked a random passerby to help promote his business on Facebook. And, it worked!
Jimmy wrote, “The day before yesterday, when I was withdrawing money from a local bank, I met this Malay uncle. When he saw me, he politely called out ‘boss! boss!’.” “He told me that he had just started here and was in the business of fixing various footwear, replacing soles and repairing shoes, and hopes that I could help to promote his business,”
As of the time of writing, Jimmy’s Facebook post has since received over 180 comments and 6,000 shares!It is truly amazing to see how Malaysians are willing to help one another in championing livelihoods.
