KUCHING: Eight districts in Sarawak's southern zone will not be moved into Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan on Wednesday (Aug 4) along with the rest of the state as their Covid-19 cases are still high, says the state disaster management committee.
It said the implementation of Phase Three would be deferred in Kuching, Bau, Lundu, Samarahan, Simunjan, Asajaya, Serian and Tebedu until the spread of the virus had declined to a satisfactory level.Welcoming the announcement that Sarawak could enter Phase Three, the committee said it would be implemented once the standard operating procedure was finalised with advice from health experts.
Kuching had the most cases with 307, followed by Serian with 57, while 16 other districts recorded between one and 32 cases each. The latest fatalities were two men aged 70 and 75 who died at Bintulu Hospital and Sarawak General Hospital here.
