Kota Kinabalu: A 38-year-old Egyptian was fined a total of RM15,000 for immigration offences.
Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim meted out the sentence to Emad Galal Abdelkarim Gharib who pleaded guilty to two charges which were read in Arabic Friday.On the first count, Emad was fined RM10,000 in default 60 days’ jail for overstaying in the State after his social visit pass had expired for 10months and five days since Feb 28, 2023 at 2.40pm on Jan 3 this year at the Silver Coast Sdn Bhd 88 Market Place in Jalan Pintas, here.
He also claimed that he was cheated by his friend in Egypt that the problem could be solved in Malaysia.Emad also wished to apply for a permit as he did not have intention to breach the Malaysia’s Law because he saw Malaysia a place to make money.
