APA Group CEO Adam Watson says energy systems require “three” standards to be considered effective. “It needs to be reliable, it needs to be affordable, and it needs to be low emissions,” he told Sky News Australia. “Clearly we’ve got our own domestic obligations to be able to take coal out of the energy system, bring renewable power generation to market. “If you look anywhere in the world you’ve got gas playing a critical role to firm up the renewable power generation when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow. “Demand for gas in Australia is only going to continue to grow.”
