The party noted that three of his nominees only have matric certificates, while the fourth lacks necessary experience.
Mathys criticised Steenhuisen for his poor judgment in hiring Cabanac, linking it to a broader issue of fostering racist individuals in government. The EFF accused Steenhuisen of ignoring appointment rules, causing delays in departmental operations and staff salaries. They demanded accountability for what they see as racist appointments and leadership failures, asserting that his actions are detrimental to both staff and the country’s governance.
The party vowed to continue exposing Steenhuisen’s alleged corrupt practices and seek accountability for his leadership shortcomings.
