Governor Godwin Obaseki has warned that the continuous harassment, intimidation, and arrest of chieftains and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo by the police in the run-up to the September 21 gubernatorial election could lead to a crisis in the state.
He, however, urged the youth and party faithful to remain calm and peaceful while awaiting the outcome of his meeting with the IGP scheduled for tomorrow. “If the Commissioner of Police can undermine my authority as the Chief Security Officer of the State, then I don’t really know what I should do next. I don’t know how to stop you.
“I understand that the person has been transferred to Abuja, it's unconstitutional, it's not right. I am the Chief Security Officer of Edo State and if a citizen commits a crime in Edo, he should be arrested and charged in Edo State not transferred to Abuja.
