It was, Richards said, debilitating pain that set in quickly following a workout one morning. In fact, Richards said he had an excellent workout that he wrapped up around 9 a.m. and that by noon he needed a walker. Richards said that what followed was two weeks of non-stop spasms, pain that he said was far worse than anything he experienced during his wrestling career. Initial MRIs and X-Rays didn’t reveal the infection, and he said the Mayo Clinic initially gave him an appointment for March 22.
But, even though Richards is up and looking much better, he is not out of the woods yet. He has a picc line in an arm and has to do antibiotics each morning. And, earlier this week — looking healthy — he posted a video to Instagram saying that “It appears this infection wants to fight back so the picc line stays in along with another round of antibiotics.”
He said that there are “still some things to the left side of L4 and L5 ” and that doctors didn’t want that to get any worse.
