KUALA LUMPUR: Businessman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin has been awarded an honorary Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his achievements in the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station in South London.
The former SP Setia Bhd chief executive officer was recognised for his work in spearheading the regeneration of the dormant electricity-generating station, Battersea Power Station, into an integrated retail, office, leisure and housing real estate as well as his contributions to United Kingdom -Malaysia trade and investment ties.Liew, who is the Eco World Development Group Bhd chairman, said he is still making his mark to bring Malaysia’s name to the global stage.
The citation was read out by High Commissioner Charles Hay and the event was attended by Liew’s family members and friends. “I would like to acknowledge the contributions of so many of my current and former colleagues, as well as bankers and business partners in everything we have collectively achieved together.
Liew also founded Malaysia-based Eco World International Bhd which has entered joint ventures with UK companies Ballymore and Willmott Dixon to deliver large development projects in the UK.
