ELECTION Commission chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh has called on all voters in the six states and the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat to exercise their right to vote in Saturday’s elections. “We urged all voters to fulfil their responsibility to vote. We also hope voter turnout will exceed the 86% recorded in the last general election,” he told reporters after inspecting the early voting process at the Selangor contingent police headquarters today.

Ghani said the early voting for military and police personnel and their spouses in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan had a lively start as of 9am and hoped that the voter turnout would also be high.Ghani is also hoping for an earlier announcement of polls results based on the nomination process on July 29.

“Insya Allah, we are currently upgrading the system and hope to make the announcement as soon as possible. In fact, during nomination, the candidates’ list for all six states was already out by 1pm,” he said. – Bernama, August 8, 2023.
