The bride knew her first trip to Israel would be life changing but she never guessed to what extent.

The couple fell into a long-distance relationship and the year that followed was filled with hours of FaceTime, back and forth trips from New York City to Tel Aviv, Rebecca’s growing desire to transplant her life to Israel, and Or’s own wish to have her there by his side. While Rebecca was taking Hebrew classes in New York, Or was looking for their first apartment in Tel Aviv. A year later, they were embracing once again at the airport. This time, Rebecca had a few more pieces of luggage on her.
In Tel Aviv, Rebecca had worked as an interiors and wedding stylist, so planning her own wedding came easy. Marrying in Tel Aviv was a no-brainer for the pair and in doing so, Rebecca wanted to stick with the local matrimonial traditions, “I knew that I wanted to embrace the culture rather than force an American-style affair.”
The date was June 1 and in the final hours of daylight, guests gathered on the rooftop of the Lawrence for pre-ceremony cocktails and Israeli bites. Just after the sun dipped into the Mediterranean, the wedding party of 250 migrated to the Tirosh Amphitheater for the ceremony. On the stage, Rebecca and Or’s closest friends and family members gathered underneath the chuppah—a white canopy with verdant foliage climbing up the structure.
