Law enforcement has yet to enter a crime scene in East Lansdowne more than 12 hours after officers came under fire, and a blaze erupted inside a house where officials say 6–8 people are still unaccounted for.
The tragic incident began around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday when police received a call claiming an 11-year-old girl had been shot inside a home on Lewis Avenue. Officers from East Lansdowne and multiple neighboring departments rushed to the scene. As officers approached the home, officials say a gunman opened fire with 40–50 bullets.Two officers were each shot once in the leg and were pulled to safety by officers from Upper Darby.
Wednesday, he confirmed the crime scene is still under lock down as the house fire is too dangerous for authorities to go inside. The house was still inaccess to law enforcement as of 6:30 a.m. Thursday.The DA said the victim's family had a lot of people living in the house, including children. He said at least six to eight people are unaccounted for.
