KUALA LUMPUR: Early voting for the postponed Padang Serai parliamentary seat in Kedah and the Tioman state seat in Pahang has officially started at 8am on Saturday (Dec 3), involving a total of 319 voters.
From the total, 79 are police personnel voting for the Padang Serai seat, while 243 police personnel are voting for the Tioman state seat.
Voters in Padang Serai are casting their ballots at the Kulim district police headquarters multi-purpose hall from 8am to 2pm while those in Tioman will be voting at either the Rompin district police headquarters break room from 8am to 5pm or the Pulau Tioman Tetek police station information room from 8am to noon on Saturday.
The ballots will not be counted until Dec 7 and all ballot boxes will be kept at police stations for safekeeping. Elections in both areas were postponed following the death of contesting candidates, namely Pakatan Harapan's M. Karupaiya for the Padang Serai seat and Perikatan Nasional's Md Yunus Ramli for the Tioman seat.
There will be a six-corner contest for the Padang Serai seat involving candidates from Pakatan, Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional and Pejuang while Tioman will see a five-corner contest between candidates from Barisan, Perikatan, Pakatan, Pejuang and an Independent. – Bernama
