His big-name teammates kept the momentum rolling with game-changing plays as the Eagles thundered to a 28-0 first-half lead that proved decisive.
Hurts immediately bounced forward, unleashing a towering moonball down the left sideline as the sellout crowd at Lincoln Financial Field went silent as they watched it fly. They were roaring when the ball landed, in the hands of second-year receiver DeVonta Smith after tracing a perfect trajectory for a 40-yard gain. And they never really had a reason to stop.
Hurts, of course, led the way, completing 16-of-24 passes for two touchdowns and running for a touchdown on nine carries for 34 yards. Reddick terrorized the Giants’ offense from the very first drive, stuffing Saquon Barkley for a two-yard gain on a second down, combining with Josh Sweat for a sack on third down, and sacking Giants quarterback Daniel Jones on fourth down – proving Brian Daboll’s decision to go for it near midfield on fourth-and-8 an ill-advised one.
And it was fitting that less than 25 minutes into the game, No. 2 running back Boston Scott once again found the end zone against the Giants for a three-yard touchdown to give the Eagles a 21-0 lead. Scott has scored 18 touchdowns in five NFL seasons – 11 of them have come against the Giants.
