Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has accused the Prime Minister of not giving a 'straight answer' about whether he supports a national treaty, during a tense back-and-forth in Question Time.
During Question Time, Member for Durack Melissa Price asked the Prime Minister whether he was committed to working towards a national treaty.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton became noticeably frustrated during a tense back-and-forth with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about treaty on Tuesday. Picture: Supplied Mr Albanese also referenced Queensland passing a Path to Treaty Bill earlier this year, and Victoria passing its Treaty Authority legislation in mid 2022.
“Mr Speaker, the question couldn’t have been any clearer. Is it possible for this Prime Minister to answer just one question with a straight answer?” he asked, clearly agitated. Before Mr Dick could finish his explanation, Mr Dutton stood up and called for another point of order. Mr Dick said he was in the process of providing an explanation before he was cuff off, and planned to listen to the Prime Minister's answer to ensure it was relevant.
