The Opposition Leader has renewed his calls for the Prime Minister to 'reconsider his position' on the Voice during a speech to the LNP faithful as he said the Coalition will defeat Labor at the next election.
"We're proposing a path of unity, that is first achieved by the Prime Minister stepping back from what he sees as his moment in history," he said.
"That is the unifying moment this October. We can listen respectfully, but more importantly act on the advice that we receive from those women, those men, the elders within Indigenous communities and provide support around the key areas.Mr Albanese on Thursday said the government will"continue to be positive" throughout the debate over the Voice proposal leading up to voting day.
"This is a positive initiative that has arisen from Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander people themselves, who gathered after years of consultation at Uluru in 2017 and determined that they wanted constitutional recognition," the Prime Minister said. Mr Dutton made the remarks on Saturday as he declared the Coalition would win the next election after just one term in opposition amid a"cost of living crisis". "We're already seeing through the course of two budgets now, decisions that have been made which will make it harder not easier for the Australian public," Mr Dutton said.
