Two Prominent Sabahans in their eighties still remember the celebration in the then colony of British North Borneo (now Sabah) of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

Tan Sri Simon Sipaun, 85, said he was a 15-year-old student at St Michael’s school in Penampang then.“I was at St Michael’s and one teacher said this is the coronation of Queen Elizabeth ll. We were shown a photo . She was very young. I think she was 21 or 22.
