Gardai are currently at the ‘Coolock Says No’ camp at the former Crown Paints factory in north Dublin, where clashes between officers and protesters have broken out
The protest camp was set up several months ago to prevent workers from renovating the premises, with people in attendance around the clock.are currently at the scene and are attempting to keep the peace amid rising tensions, with multiple arrests already made.
Gardai are expecting to remain at the scene for some time as protestors have called for more people to come to the scene. Various anti-migrant groups from around the country have been invited to the area on social media for an alleged planned protest at 6pm.A spokesperson for the department said: "This morning , a provider attempted to begin work on the former Crown Paints Factory in Coolock to allow it be used as accommodation for people seeking international protection.
Items such as bricks were seen being thrown at officers who held up their shields to protect themselves. A number of people were seen being handcuffed at the scene.Gardaí are reportedly moving along the Malahide Road in formation in an attempt to clear protestors from the area. Pepper spray has allegedly been used and it is understood arrests are being made.The Minister for Justice said: "I am appalled at the criminal behaviour that took place in Coolock today.

Several shocking videos and pictures have emerged of the JCB and numerous other items which have been set alight inside the encampment. Some protestors can also be seen in the videos shouting at Gardai at the scene.
