THE Department of Trade and Industry is eyeing a large-scale partnership with the Qatari Baladna, a Qatari agricultural firm, to boost dairy self-sufficiency in the Philippines.Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual met with officials of Baladna and discussed potential investment in building a fully integrated dairy processing facility in the Philippines. The meeting was held on Thursday, May 16, during Pascual's official visit to Qatar.
Baladna supplies over 95 percent of Qatar's fresh dairy products and is also known for its milk, dairy, juice and food brand. It has also been known for its progressive product research and innovation, aiming toward a healthier and more sustainable future.The Qatari firm also extended its expertise and resources to countries such as Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Algeria and the Philippines through strategic partnerships and knowledge-sharing.
