The impact of the 4.30am crash sent the Waja into the opposite lane and straight at an oncoming motorcycle. Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santung said the 40-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious head and body injuries while the driver of the MyVi, a 22-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.

The driver of the Waja was not injured. He was later tested positive for alcohol and detained for further questioning.He added that the case is being investigated under Section 44 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injury.
