If you want the edge when gaming or taking part in a Zoom meeting, then a decent headset can make all the difference. With a high-quality headset, you can hear everyone else correctly and everyone else can hear you properly. A good headset is as essential a piece of kit as a decent webcam. However, there are so many headsets on the market now – some of them can cost hundreds of dollars – but you don’t need to pay a fortune if you choose wisely.
Drop and the Danish manufacturer EPOS have joined forces to produce a gaming headset that offers high-quality sound at a price that’s within reach of most people. The Drop + EPOS H3X headset has a similar design to the award-winning Drop + EPOS PC38X headset. It’s incredibly comfortable with a sturdy build quality and a generously padded headband and plush velour ear cushions that make the H3X comfortable for the most extended gaming session.
As well as offering a high-quality boom mic, the H3X features a handy rotary volume control on the right-hand earpiece for instant adjustment of sound levels. The mic boom can be flipped up out of the way when not being used. The electret-condenser mic is excellent quality and good enough quality for live broadcasting. My only disappointment is the lack of a sidetone or zero-latency monitoring so you can hear yourself speak through the headphones.
The Drop + EPOS H3X headset has been tweaked following extensive feedback from the Drop community. The feedback called for a fine-tuning of the headset’s sonic performance so it delivers clarity, accuracy and the kind of reproduction that the Drop community insists on. The Drop + EPOS H3X headset has a well-rounded acoustic and a fulsome bass that’s satisfyingly neutral, thanks to the boost in clarity and balance.
