Drogheda United brought an appeal against the ban on their fans attending the upcoming game away to Shamrock Rovers to an Independent Appeal Committee of the FAI.
The Boynesiders will not be permitted to bring fans to their October 20 clash with Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium.
The ban follows an incident where a match official was struck by a pyrotechnic during their September 29 visit to Louth rivals Dundalk. In a statement, the FAI acknowledged that”the great work carried out by League of Ireland clubs in relation to spectator misconduct and recognises that this behaviour is by a minority of individuals.
“However, the FAI maintains a strict zero tolerance approach towards spectator misconduct and is committed to ensuring that League of Ireland matches remain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.”
