The driver, who was not identified, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after being bitten by a police dog, said sheriff’s Lt. John Spach. He was taken to a hospital to be treated. The incident began shortly before 10:30 p.m. when the driver nearly crashed his Lexus SUV into a deputy on Winter Gardens Boulevard. The deputy went to pull over the driver, who took off and got onto state Route 67.The chase continued on Interstate 8 and then south on state Route 125, with CHP officers picking up the chase in the Spring Valley area.
The driver eventually headed into Otay Mesa, at one point reaching speeds of up to 100 mph, before crashing on Siempre Viva Road near Harvest Road in a construction zone around 10:50 p.m., Spach said. After crashing, the man got out of his vehicle and ran and officers sent a police dog after him, Spach said.
