The man who allegedly ran over a Western Australia police officer last week following a pursuit has had his charges upgraded by detectives.
Reagan Ainsley Chown, 23, was behind the wheel of a Holden Cruise when Constable Anthony Woods attempted to pull him over in Ascot on Thursday about 1am.
The Holden Cruise came to a stop and while Mr Woods attempted to detain three offenders, he was allegedly hit and dragged underneath Chown's vehicle. They also issued an appeal for any motorists who were in the areas of High Wycombe, Belmont or Redcliffe on Thursday about midnight to 1:30am to come forward.
Mr Woods has been remembered as a hardworking man"with a wicked sense of humor" who loved his AFL and his team the West Coast Eagles."We are shattered to lose our dear Anthony. He was a devoted husband and loving son, brother, and uncle who was taken from this earth far too soon," the statement said."Our pain at this time is indescribable, and we take comfort in the outpouring of love from the community.
Mr Woods' football club Winnacott Eagles said it will have a celebration for the slain police officer at the end of their game this weekend.
