Driver killed in head-on crash in Chula Vista identified [Breaking]
A 57-year-old man who was killed last week in a head-on collision in Chula Vista was identified Sunday as Andres Montante Gutierrez.
The Chula Vista resident was headed west on E Street just east of Interstate 5 about 6 a.m. Wednesday when his car veered and struck another sedan in a shared left-turn lane, according to the Chula Vista police and county Medical Examiner’s Office.After the crash, officers and paramedics pulled Gutierrez out of his car and performed CPR, but he died before he could be taken to a hospital, police said.
The other driver, a woman believed to be in her 60s, was taken to a hospital as a precaution. She apparently was in the left-turn lane waiting to pull into a McDonald’s parking lot when the crash occurred, police said.
