A man is arrested after allegedly speeding through a border checkpoint in a vehicle with blackened-out number plates, driving on the wrong side of the road.

A South Australian man has been arrested after allegedly breaching COVID-19 directions by entering the state in a vehicle with blackened-out number plates and travelling on the wrong side of the road.The vehicle was later found abandoned in bushesAbout 7:15pm on Friday, police at the Oodla Wirra border checkpoint, in the state's Mid North, spotted the blue Toyota sedan travelling at speed on the wrong side of the Barrier Highway.

The alleged driver, a 30-year-old man from Elizabeth Downs, was arrested after he appeared from bushes nearby, police said.
