During a press conference, Ahmad Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, said that Budget 2023 was drafted in view of the national revenue and spending gap, which has been reduced from 5.6 per cent to 5 per cent. Ahmad Zahid also highlighted that the government has provided an increased allocation of RM500 million to his ministry that will benefit 8.1 million rural residents.
