This could well be the year that the planet’s human population begins to take this apocalypse seriously and addresses the crisis before it’s too late.Article content The Amazon has an Indigenous population of more than a million people and is considered the lungs of the planet because of the vast rainforest that captures carbon dioxide and releases oxygen. The vast jungle has been under attack by loggers and miners that have placed much of the forest in jeopardy.Article content
Fortunately, the electorate rebelled and voted for Lula De Silva and a much more progressive approach to the environment and the Indigenous people.In Canada, the federal government is moving toward a carbon reduced economy. Carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere is a major cause of global warming and we are failing to meet our international commitments.Article content
We are part of creation and not the reason for it. Our people can provide sustainable land management, pollution monitoring and a workforce for green industries. Canada also has the technology to create a carbon reduced environment and make it available worldwide.
