The US Capitol Police are preparing for possible demonstrations by supporters of Donald Trump in response to his indictment. The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms and USCP told Senate staff in a letter that they anticipate demonstrations around the country.

The letter said police will boost their presence at the Capitol in response, but it noted that no credible threats had been received."The Sergeant at Arms and United States Capitol Police anticipate demonstration activity across the country related to the indictment of former President Trump," the letter read.
"The SAA and USCP are monitoring the potential nationwide impacts to Senate state offices," it said, adding that the Senate Operations Center and State Office Readiness Program were monitoring the situation as well. The New York City Police Department is making similar preparations; officers were ordered to show up in full uniform on Friday in anticipation of unrest.“The department remains ready and available to respond to protests and counter-protests,” the NYPD said in a statement.
Trump was indicted by a Manhattan Grand Jury on Thursday in connection to an investigation into hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.
