KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan should not worry about Umno and PAS’ choice of prime minister when they retake the Federal Government in the next general election, says Wanita Umno chief Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad.
Noraini said Pakatan should instead just focus on their “short-lived” opportunity of governing the country.“Every day they only think about other party’s affair when they should be focusing on their job as the government,” she said after the Himpunan Wanita Penyatuan Ummah 2019 at the Putra World Trade Centre yesterday. Noraini was commenting on the remarks by DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang who asked between the two Opposition parties’ leaders, who would become prime minister in the event they win the 15th general election, pointing out that Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang were both prominent leaders. She said the parties’ leadership would decide who was the best to be the prime minister when the time comes. In her speech, the Parit Sulong MP said there was no need for Umno and PAS to apologise to one another over past issues, as the political cooperation between the two parties was to forge Muslim unity. Noraini said she had contested against PAS three times and never held grudges against her political opponents. She also criticised Pakatan government for their U-turn habit including the recently announced plan to scrap the pension scheme for civil servants. “When we raised our concern, they made a U-turn. This is as if to challenge all of the Muslim community. “They keep pushing us towards a corner, and when we are angry, they will do a U-turn,” added Noraini.
