Have you encountered someone who has a unique name?
In an era when many parents are trying to make their children stand out with increasingly unique names, the National Registration Department has issued a guideline for parents to refer to so that they don’t get too creative.
The department uploaded a series of pictures on Facebook detailing the guidelines. It started off by saying that a name should not be undesirable or have a bad meaning in Malay.Other than that, one is not allowed to put titles such as Dato’, Tan Sri, Puan Sri, Haji and many more in an individual’s name.
Moving on, names that are too complicated or too ‘fancy’ are not allowed either. Examples are Chuynx, Ytjt, and Usyux. Did anyone attempt to pronounce them? Lastly, maybe the most important one is that an individual’s name can only have a maximum of 80 characters. So parents, don’t try to name your kid with 12 anime names or put princess or prince in their name 6 times in different languages. Now that you know about these guidelines, which friend of yours has the most unique name? Let us know in the comments.
