The evolution of our society in a more inclusive direction that values critical thinking over allegiance to dogma and electing “Moms for Liberty” to school board positions is a frightening proposition for our country.

“Take back our schools.” It’s a refrain echoing throughout the country, including here in Central Pennsylvania. Sounding the call are the “Moms for Liberty,” who are running candidates for various school board positions. It begs the question, “Who controls the schools?” I suppose I know their answer: liberal elites, secular policies, proponents of critical race theory. But, is that true?

And, theoretically, elected officials reflect the societies they represent. So, who controls the schools and, subsequently, are the target of the “Moms for Liberty?” In a word, voters. In several words, the evolution of our society in a more inclusive direction that values critical thinking over allegiance to dogma.Brian Allen, Mechanicsburg, Pa.
