The Department of Health (DOH) said it will initially purchase a “minimal number” of bivalent Covid-19 vaccines.
Coronavirus vaccines have been prepared for distribution at a vaccination site in Manila on May 18, 2021.
In a press briefing, DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said that they will just increase the number of stocks of these vaccines based on the demand. “Meron naman tayong usapan with the manufacturers na kung saka-sakaling nakita natin na tumaas pa ang demand, maaari tayong umorder agad-agad sa kanila at mai-deliver nila agad-agad ,” she added.At present, Vergeire said the DOH is already drafting the guidelines for the use of bivalent vaccines of Pfizer and Moderna.the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization for this type of Covid-19 vaccine made by the said vaccine manufacturers.
