Eventually, a series of Mets blunders opened the door for the Dodgers to score four times in the eighth and ninth innings, breaking open a tight ballgame and handing the over-financed and under-achieving Mets a 5-1 defeat Saturday night. Two of those were ground-ball double plays. Only one of those hard knocks produced a run – Brandon Nimmo’s solo home run leading off the fourth inning. That left the bat at 108 mph and landed 445 feet away near the Big Apple in straightaway center field.
