The right-hander suffered a strained groin muscle Thursday; Tony Gonsolin or Gavin Stone could be options to fill his spot and start next week
CHICAGO — The Dodgers have an opening in their starting rotation.
The Dodgers have a definite preference for giving their starting pitchers more than four days between starts. Julio Urias’ start Friday was only the sixth time in the first 21 games that a Dodgers starter pitched on only four days’ rest. Since the start of the 2016 season, the Dodgers’ starter has had more than four days’ rest 67 percent of the time.
“Tony is on line as he pitched yesterday. But we have to make that decision,” Roberts said. “We still have some time, kind of depending where the bullpen is at that point in time. But Tony is certainly an option.”
