THE Department of Migrant Workers announced on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, the passing of its secretary Susan “Toots” Ople.
In a statement, the DMW said Ople, 61, passed away around 1 p.m. of August 22, “surrounded by her family and loved ones.” “We shall be releasing more details soon. For the meantime, we ask for prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of our dear Sec. Toots,” the DMW said.Ople, who was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as secretary of the newly created DMW, is the youngest daughter of late Foreign Affairs Secretary Blas F. Ople.She was the founder of Blas Ople Policy Center and Training Institute, a non-profit organization assisting distressed overseas Filipino workers.
