Among the key matchups are Gahanna Lincoln vs. Pickerington Central, Upper Arlington vs. New Albany and Olentangy Liberty vs. Perrysburg.

While the Tigers had won five consecutive regional titles before being the Region 3 runner-up to UA last season, the Lions have won multiple playoff games in a season for the first time under ninth-year coach Bruce Ward.

“I’ve been pleased with the effort and focus of our senior-led group,” Gahanna defensive coordinator Murad Holliday said. “They’ve been playing their best football.”The Lions will face a Central offense that was held to 20 points or fewer four times during a 2-3 start, but scored more than 40 points in three consecutive games before beating North last week.

In the earlier matchup against the Tigers, Hubbard rushed for 211 yards on a season-high 38 carries as Gahanna overcame losing three fumbles. “That was rough,” Manville said. “We had a great season last year and I put on my calendar. I’ve worked every single day for that game. We get a chance to prove ourselves again. I can’t wait for that game, that whole atmosphere.”

“They have tremendous tempo to the line of scrimmage and tremendous tempo in running their offense. They get set quick and get plays off in a quick fashion,” Buttermore said. “You don’t have a lot of time to set your defense and kind of evaluate what’s gong on. They’re very efficient and good at what they do. They’re aggressive , put a lot of guys in the box and try to get after you.

Jerome was 0-for-4 on fourth down against Liberty, including a stop by senior defensive lineman Luke Fleet in the second quarter to set up senior wide receiver Alex Okuley’s first of two touchdown receptions – a 74-yarder from sophomore quarterback Andrew Leonard. Leonard threw three touchdown passes – all in the first half – against Jerome. He threw a 14-yarder to Okuley to push Liberty’s lead to 28-7 at halftime.
