Sky News host Jack Houghton speaks about the “disturbing” revelations uncovered during an investigation into “so-called independent” fact checkers and how they censor debate around the Voice. “We’ve uncovered some disturbing stuff including the relationship between Meta which is the owner of Facebook obviously which is directly paying fact checkers up to AU$740,000 every year to police debates,” Mr Houghton told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. Mr Houghton said ABC veteran Russell Skelton, married to the ABC’s Virginia Trioli, heads the division at RMIT FactLab. “And they seem to be just targeting views of people who are against the Voice which goes against all the rules, goes against everything that we’ve been promised and it doesn’t appear to be very independent at all. “There was a period of time between May and June where we analysed 17 checks that they did and all of the 17 Voice checks were checking semantics or slight verbal missteps or just comments from people that don’t want the Voice to go ahead.”
